Why this may differ from your payslip

Every salary calculator is an estimate. Your actual payslip depends on your employer's specific salary structure, PF policy, payroll software, state professional tax, variable pay timing, and other factors we can't know.

PayDecode is transparent about this. We show you every assumption, link to official sources, and let you adjust inputs to match your situation.

→ Employer salary structure and basic-pay ratio vary
→ PF can be on statutory ceiling, full basic, or custom
→ Professional tax varies by state
→ Variable pay timing and payout percentage affect TDS
→ Tax regime choice and personal deductions change the answer

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CTC and how is it different from in-hand salary?

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount your employer spends on you annually. It includes your cash salary, employer PF, gratuity provision, insurance, and sometimes variable pay. Your in-hand salary (net take-home) is what actually lands in your bank account after deducting employee PF, professional tax, and income tax (TDS).

Why does PayDecode show a different amount than other calculators?

Most calculators use simplified approximations. PayDecode implements the full Income-tax Act, 2025 with proper slab calculations, rebate with marginal relief, cess, and the updated PF statutory ceiling (₹25,000 from September 2026). We also let you adjust every assumption — basic pay ratio, PF policy, variable pay, and employer NPS — which can significantly change the result.

Is the new tax regime better than old for me?

It depends on your deductions. Under the new regime (default from Tax Year 2026–27), you get a higher standard deduction (₹75,000) and wider slabs, but you forgo most Chapter VI-A deductions (80C, 80D, HRA, etc.). Use our regime comparison calculator with your actual deduction amounts to see which saves more.

What is the current PF contribution amount?

The EPFO statutory wage ceiling increased from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month effective 17 September 2026. Under the statutory ceiling policy, both employee and employer contribute 12% of ₹25,000 = ₹3,000/month each. However, many employers contribute on full basic salary or use custom policies. PayDecode lets you select your employer's PF policy.

Is my salary data safe? Do you store anything?

PayDecode runs entirely in your browser. No salary data, offer letter details, deduction inputs, or personal information is sent to any server, stored in cookies, or saved to local storage. PDF generation also happens client-side. We have no backend, database, or analytics that captures financial inputs.

Can I trust this calculator for tax planning?

PayDecode provides estimates based on displayed assumptions and linked official sources. It is not personal tax or financial advice. Your actual payroll depends on your employer's salary structure, payroll software, state-specific rules, and individual tax situation. We recommend using this as a starting point and consulting a qualified tax professional for specific decisions.
